Environmental sustainability is important to Oceanit, which is always considering how to bring science and technology to some of the world’s most pressing sustainability problems — including something as common as “glass.” In 2014, Oceanit was asked by the Hawaii State Auditor’s office to examine alternatives to shipping non-deposit glass containers out of state for recycling. The study received acclaim in the press for its in-depth analysis of the feasibility of various local uses for post-consumer glass.
