Our Disciplines

What makes Oceanit unlike any other company on the planet.

Oceanit’s work is guided by two complementary disciplines that shape how we solve complex problems; from first insight to real-world impact.

Intellectual Anarchy

Oceanit practices a proprietary discipline we call Intellectual Anarchy. We encourage inquisitiveness and are committed to pursuing responsible solutions to the world’s most difficult problems. Our culture is made up of a rare blend of people, expertise areas, technologies, approaches, and geographies to address and tackle problems like no one else.

We empower our teams to practice transdisciplinary thinking — with endless curiosity — allowing for extraordinary problem solving across traditional boundaries. Originally founded as an engineering firm, Oceanit has grown to encompass scientists and engineers working in the fields of nanomaterials, sensors and communications, life sciences, medical science, industrial products, artificial intelligence, energy, sustainable engineering, aerospace, and defense.

Our clients tell us we do the impossible. The question we get asked most often is, “how did you do that?!”

Delivering on the impossible is always challenging, but we are constantly curious. There are no ‘lanes’ to stay inside — egos, diplomas and attitudes are checked at the door. We cross-pollinate so that our diverse curiosities lead us to breakthrough innovations that can then be driven from deep science to real-world applications.

Mind to Market

Mind to Market is what we do. Our teams deliver cutting-edge solutions, services, and products to customers across a vast range of industries.

It works like this: We solve problems in many disciplines, based on market pain. Then, we start a user-engagement process to validate that we are delivering on what the people actually will use. As a last step, we initiate a process around delivery to market: delivering products via private equity financial spinouts, co-development, partnerships, licensing, or direct manufacturing.

This open innovation environment, together with a methodical execution process, creates the ability to have both open innovation and the discipline to deliver results.

The world is changing rapidly, that’s a given. Oceanit anticipates change, evolves to meet emerging challenges, and peers beyond our event horizon.

Together: From discovery to deployment

Intellectual Anarchy generates bold ideas. Mind to Market makes them real.

Together, these disciplines form a continuous path, where creativity is matched with rigor, and invention is paired with delivery. The result is innovation that doesn’t stop at insight, but performs in the real world.
