Oceanit is a deep-technology engineering company that solves complex problems at the intersection of science, engineering, and innovation. It delivers end-to-end engineering solutions—from concept and modeling through prototyping, community outreach, and deployment—across infrastructure, coastal engineering, and complex ecosystems.
Featured Projects

Complex ecosystems
Ala Wai Canal flood mitigation
In the event of a 100-year flood, the Ala Wai Canal could flood Mānoa and Waikīkī and cause $1.4 billion in damages. Oceanit was brought on to not only design a solution, but work with local communities to lessen the project's impact on residents.
Airports
Daniel K. Inouye International Airport
Oceanit is a critical partner of the Hawai’i Department of Transportation (HDOT), working to modernize and enhance the Daniel K. Inouye International Airport by addressing many of the challenges that threaten efficiency and global standing. With established offices at HNL, Oceanit has undertaken a wide range of projects developed to improve the airport’s overall functionality, safety, and sustainability.

Complex ecosystems
3D-Printed coral nurseries
Oceanit is collaborating on a multi-year coral reef nursery project to develop 3D-printed coral nurseries off Oahu’s iconic Waikīkī Beach. Supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), REEFrame aims to create sustainable, modular nursery units that can grow corals for transplantation and habitat restoration or the creation of new reefs.
How we work
01
Listen & assess
We begin by understanding local challenges, from flooding and climate risk to infrastructure gaps and cultural considerations.
02
Engineer for resilience
We design adaptive, sustainable solutions using multidisciplinary engineering, data, and nature-based strategies.
03
Collaborate & partner
We partner with Hawaiʻi communities, government, and industry to implement projects that strengthen local resilience and quality of life.
Frequently Asked Questions
Oceanit is a deep-technology engineering company that solves complex problems at the intersection of science, engineering, and innovation. It delivers end-to-end engineering solutions—from concept and modeling through prototyping, community outreach, and deployment—across infrastructure, coastal engineering, and complex ecosystems.
Unlike traditional engineering firms that focus mainly on design services or construction support, Oceanit combines engineering with advanced R&D, materials science, AI, and data analytics. This integrated approach enables Oceanit to tackle high-risk, high-impact challenges and create technologies that go beyond standard off-the-shelf solutions.
Oceanit provides systems engineering, mechanical and structural engineering, materials and corrosion engineering, as well as support for airports, harbors, and highways, artificial reefs, water resources, flood modeling, environmental monitoring and pollution control, dam infrastructure, habitat restoration, and much more. Oceanit performs this work across the state, including on Oʻahu, Maui, Hawaiʻi Island, and Kauaʻi.
From our headquarters in the Pacific, Oceanit is known for engineering solutions that must perform in harsh and extreme conditions, including offshore, subsea, aerospace, military, and high-temperature or corrosive environments. Its teams combine materials expertise, structural engineering, and systems design to deliver solutions that maintain performance where conventional approaches often fail.
Oceanit incorporates data science, AI, and software engineering into its projects to improve modeling, optimization, monitoring, and decision-making. This can include predictive modeling, digital twins, condition-based monitoring, and intelligent control systems that enhance performance and reliability over the life of an engineered system.
Program managers, engineering leaders, R&D teams, asset owners, and technology executives who are facing difficult technical challenges are strong candidates to engage with Oceanit. Organizations seeking advanced engineering solutions, deep-tech innovation, or help moving from concept to deployed system are especially well aligned.
