Hawaii on the Hill

June 7 - June 10
Patrick Sullivan at a previous State of Tech panel

Oceanit will join policy, business, and technology leaders from across the islands at the 10th Annual Hawaiʻi on the Hill in Washington, D.C., a four-day initiative presented by the Chamber of Commerce Hawaiʻi in partnership with U.S. Senator Mazie K. Hirono.

Oceanit will sponsor the State of Tech panel, which will examine how artificial intelligence is moving from buzzword to critical infrastructure. The discussion will feature leaders from Oceanit, Google, ScaleAI, DoorDash, and the U.S. Chamber exploring how AI is transforming work, commerce, and deep tech innovation—and what that means for Hawaiʻi’s economy and communities. Moderated by Oceanit’s Director of Product, Matthew Sullivan, the conversation will highlight AI built and applied in Hawaiʻi and beyond, surfacing opportunities for new industries and high-value jobs, as well as the challenges around safety, ethics, and resilience. Rather than prescribing a path for Hawaiʻi, the panel will share lessons, possibilities, and questions to help local leaders and communities shape their own AI future.

At the flagship Taste of Hawaiʻi event, Oceanit will showcase two breakthrough technologies developed in Hawaiʻi: a high-performance protein bar featuring 80 grams of protein, and RipeWrap, a food-packaging solution designed to delay fruit ripening and reduce food waste. Taste of Hawaii brings members of Congress, their staff, and invited guests together to experience Hawaiʻi’s cuisine, culture, and innovation, drawing thousands of attendees each year to celebrate the diversity and creativity of the islands.

Oceanit will also participate in the Kamaʻāina Come Home event, which reconnects Hawaiʻi-born and Hawaiʻi-raised professionals on the mainland with career and innovation opportunities in the islands. Oceanit’s participation underscores its commitment to building pathways for kamaʻāina to return home and contribute to Hawaiʻi’s growing technology and deep-tech sectors.
