Oceanit’s summer interns were featured on Hawaii News Now, just as the program wrapped up for another successful year. Intern projects included collaboration with scientists and engineers on current contracts, as well as an internal opportunity to present an innovative solution to solve any problem they are interested in. This Intern Innovation Summit is presented to a board of judges using the resources and equipment provided from the company.
“We ask them to try to think of something that they care about. Whether anybody else cares about it is not important, it’s whether they care about it,” said Sullivan. “Usually, for these kids, they’ve got ideas but no one’s ever asked them.”
