What started as an event in 2015 to diversify Hawai’i’s economy by building the state’s technology and innovation sector, has now grown into an annual event highlighting the state’s leaders in innovation. Hosted by the University of Hawai’i and the Hawai’i Business Roundtable, the second annual Future Focus: The Hawai‘i Innovation Initiative’s Forum on Medical Research, Cybersecurity, and More aims to accelerate and grow the billion dollar innovation and research sector in Hawai’i. This year’s event tackles discussions on emerging technologies, medical research, and cybersecurity with presentations, interactive panel discussions, “poolside chats” with experts, workshops, and a networking reception.

The day-and-a-half forum will be held on October 5 and 6 at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikīkī Beach Resort. Bringing together local, national, and international experts in innovation, technology, and medical research, the event will offer attendees opportunities to learn more about ways to engage and contribute to Hawai‘i’s thriving innovation and technology industry.

Oceanit’s Chief Operating Officer, Jan Sullivan, and Director of Business Development, Ian Kitajima, will be a part of this year’s event. Jan will serve as a moderator for the State of Innovation in Hawai’i opening discussion, while Ian will participate in the Tech Entrepreneurs Workshop panel.
