Oceanit Demonstrates All-Sky Infrared Sensor for the Navy

A team of scientists and engineers from Oceanit recently demonstrated an innovative infrared sensor system for Naval Air Systems Command. The Meteorological Atmospheric Measurement Bolometer Array (MAMBA) is an all-sky sensor designed to characterize atmospheric transmittance to support tactical and space sensors testing and operations. The test at Naval Air Station Patuxent River successfully completed all technical objectives.

“This achievement continues a series of innovative infrared sensing and video processing projects in partnership with the Naval Air Systems Command,” said Bill Kearns, Oceanit’s director of defense programs. “In addition to its current mission, we believe MAMBA may also have a future as a tactical sensor.”

Oceanit also provides specialized infrared sensors to the Department of Defense for space surveillance, missile defense, and hostile fire detection.
