Oceanit Participates in First Annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day
Oceanit has historically given back to the community by encouraging Hawaii’s youth in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields. Oceanit was proud to participate in this year’s First Annual Groundhog Job Shadow Day to provide Oahu middle school students with the opportunity to view firsthand how the skills they learn in school are applied in the workplace. The Junior Achievement of Hawaii, in collaboration with The Chamber of Commerce of Hawaii and the Department of Education, hosted the event aimed at exposing students to various occupations and help them identify potential career paths.
Oceanit hosted nine students from Waimanalo and Waianae intermediate schools. Corporate Development Director Ian Kitajima spoke to the students about Oceanit and presented them with a tour of the firm’s Petting Zoo and Design Thinking Lab. The students were also allowed to shadow and observe scientists and engineers in the Chemical and Bio laboratories.
