WetWare Wednesday Celebrates Oceanit’s 30 Years of Innovation

WetWare Wednesday, founded by the State of Hawaii’s High Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) and Blue Planet Software, hosted its monthly event on September 30 at Oceanit to celebrate the firm’s 30 years of innovation. The focus of WetWare Wednesday is to bring together software developers, students, and educators to connect, network, discuss projects, review products, and collaborate to further the software development community in Hawaii.

Oceanit is a strong supporter of Hawaii’s technology, maker, and software developer community and the event provided attendees with a glimpse into how Oceanit innovates. Attendees were invited to explore and engage with amazing and innovative technologies and products in the firm’s petting zoo, including metal polymers, nano-chips, a bear that uses sensors to measure heart rate and respiration, robots, Nanite™ (smart concrete technology that acts like a sensor), and much more. Tours of the design and scientific laboratories featured research work spaces that support biotechnology, synthetic materials, energy, and nanotechnology. One popular exhibition revolved around strong artificial intelligence (AI). Dr. Jeffrey Watumull, a senior scientist at Oceanit, provided insight into how strong AI will impact humankind – focusing on the benefits to humanity, of course!
