Congratulations to Oceanit’s Ian Kitajima, Director of Corporate Development (a.k.a. Oceanit’s Jedi-in-Training) and graduate of James B. Castle High School.
Ian was honored last night at the Public Schools of Hawai’i Foundation annual fundraiser banquet, called Kulia I Ka Nu’u (“strive to reach for the highest”), along with Susan Eichor, President of aio, and Barry Taniguchi, CEO of KTA Super Stores. Funds raised at last night’s event go to support the Good Idea Grant program (mini grants given to teachers to initiate innovative projects in the classroom) and its Design Thinking Boot Camp.
PSHF honors public school graduates at this event each year. The honorees have not only distinguished themselves in their respective fields, but have made significant contributions to the local community as well.
Ian played a pivotal role in introducing Design Thinking & Altino Coding to Hawai’i as well as leading workshops and cohorts in many Hawai’i schools. Ian continues to help evolve and share Oceanit’s culture of innovation – to create, fund, incubate, and transition new technologies to the marketplace, with a community mission to create a more prosperous Hawai’i, with special focus on empowering our youth to be the next generation of innovators.
